@stucky-is-evanstan are we bitter about cacw yet?

@devildears we are kinda disappointed about a couple of things, aren’t we?

@stucky-is-evanstan we definately are salty about all the missed opportunity, right?

Most definitely. As much as I loved some great things like Bucky&Sam’s interactions, I am still left pretty confused about the main realtionship of the movie.

I don’t feel like it was a Steve/Bucky movie at all. There were so few scenes and all of them were short and hurried. :( Why make this movie and then shy away from any feelings or physical contact? WS was so good because of the pace and the intensity of their emotions…
I’m also confused about Bucky because they didn’t show any coping mechanisms or anything in detail. What are we supposed to take away from that? Idk. I don’t know much of anything now.

@devildears I was so ruined after watching CACW I could barely sleep that night. And the next day I had a very long conversation with @marriedsupersoldiers and we kind of analysed it to the last fucking detail together.

CW was not what all those critics where suggesting or what the cast was making us believe. Bucky was supposed to be Steve’s emotional core, which they forgot to SHOW. His actions were saying: BUCKY, but his eyes, his face, his body, his heart were silent.

@stucky-is-evanstan you @marriedsupersoldiers and me have to start a ‘still bitter about cacw’ club. I actually went to see it for a second time to know if only my high expectations made it seem bad and I felt a little better after but not really. The trailer had more emotional impact and made it seem like a greater narrative than it was. They were so scared of Stucky they threw everything that wasn’t subtext in the trash. I’m really mad that they didn’t even give us one long conversation between them. :( I feel like the cut everything indicating love between them (especially the close up looks during emotional moments were deliberately missing/cut out it was obvious from the camera work alone that this was like a censored no homo version of what you have been) except what was strictly necessary for the action. I expected more from the Russos after WS. I’m gonna frame that his everything was silent thing you said. It’s poetry.

@stucky-is-evanstan @devildears I need a bitter about cacw club. Some people I’ve talked to have been gushing about stucky in the movie and I was like maybe I just had my hopes up too high but I read over our conversation from yesterday and was like nope I was right and I’m very salty. I can’t believe how many takes from the trailer they didn’t use and it took a hell of a lot away from the emotional impact of the movie. Tony seemed more like the heart of it to me than Steve and Bucky did and for a Captain America movie that’s pretty bad.

@marriedsupersoldiers@devildears@buckysunshine we should really start a club, guys xDD

And that’s it.. that’s the culmination. The end.

Eh, guys, sorry to intrude the conversation but uh
I do think the Russos didn’t plan for this, I think this was a heteronormative pass, where the kiss scene was also added. It was a higher up decision.

It’s a bad thing we don’t have director’s cut of Marvel movies…

Everybody is welcomed in the “bitter about CW club” !!

But if you think it was not Russo’s decision, but Marvel’s… how do we explain CATWS? It did not lack emotion. It was perfect. And also all the trailers of CACW that were shamelessy changed?

I have a bitter theory about this and it’s not pretty:

The Winter Soldier happened BEFORE the media got overexcited about Stucky.

Then the D23 exclusive scene happened, and you know how the media/fans latched on the “ your bucky”  scene.

There was this small interview with Vancamp that foreshadowed her role in Civil War, and how their relationship was going to unfold on Civil War, not that it would already be there:

As for the relationship between Cap and Sharon, VanCamp talked about the characters’ romantic relationship in the comics and said it won’t be explored to that extent in Civil War. Instead, the characters will simply be getting to know each other in this film.

This happened just after the first trailer dropped, and HECK, it wasn’t that trailer aimed at the shippers. I remember thinking exactly that the movie couldn’t ever live up to THAT trailer, heh. Anyway, the 1st trailer arriving still after the D23 scene, and once again, people were taking Stucky was a serious possibility.

After this it went to hell.

Late january we got the actors called in for the extra scene filming, and the location/clothes where the same of The Kiss scene. The Russos, shortly after giving the interview saying “we have written them as brothers, but we want it open for interpretation really” backtracked fully into “brotherly love” and nothing more, after that re-filming went on.

And the Russos announced there was going to be a kiss in their livestream on the FB page, I was.. uh, let’s say, surprised by their delivery of the news. It was so deadpan, so “I bet you can’t guess who”, which I can totally see sarcasm on that video now. They are not pleased, but they’re contract bound, so is Evans (which isn’t hiding his frustration either).

So I firmly believe there was a higher up order to make the movie as non-gay as possible, and they had to recut a lot of scenes to make this happen. Funnily enough, the Scene I see Steve heart breaking is that quiet way of his is exactly the mid-credits scene, where he lets Bucky go.

Every single thing about this makes me sad.

Vancamp is dealing with the backlash of fans/critiques of how the story unfolded;

Sebastian Stan was probably cut short on some amazing acting on his part, because of no-homo-lol

Evans character can be read as dull if you’re taking on emotional delivery alone because heck, they’ve cut him out of the picture where Bucky was concerned. So yeah, as an actor? He must be FURIOUS.
